The V. Senthil Balaji was born on 21 OCT 1975, to P. Veluchamy and Rukmani, in Karur, Caste Gounder community Tamil Nadu. Balaji resigned from his ministerial post on 27 April. 2024: On 27 September, he was granted bail by the Supreme Court in a money laundering case and on 29 September, he was sworn in again as Minister for Electricity, Prohibition, and Excise in the Tamil Nadu cabinet, in the presence of Governor R N Ravi, Chief Minister M K Stalin, and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin. Re-elected as an MLA from the Karur constituency and appointed Minister for Electricity, Prohibition, and Excise in the Tamil Nadu government led by Chief Minister M K Stalin.
The ED arrested Balaji under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in connection with the alleged scam. He was subsequently sent to judicial custody and later hospitalised due to health complications. Despite multiple bail applications, both the Madras High Court and the Supreme Court initially denied his requests. The Supreme Court granted him bail on 26 September 2024, citing the prolonged delay in trial proceedings.
