Aparna Vastarey was a radio host, television host, and actress from India. She was a well-known figure in Kannada television, having presented a number of series on DD Chandana in the 1990s. Masanada Hoovu, Puttanna Kanagal’s final film, was her cinematic début in 1984.

Career Life of Aparna Anchor
Aparna made her debut feature film debut in Puttanna Kanagal’s 1984 film, Masanada Hoovu, in which she starred alongside Ambareesh and Jayanthi. She began working as a radio jockey (RJ) with All India Radio in 1993, before working with AIR FM Rainbow, as its first presenter. Her career in Kannada television as a presenter began in 1990 with DD Chandana had been part of a majority of its productions till 2000. As part of Deepawali celebrations in 1998, she created a record presenting shows for eight hours at a stretch.
Aparna worked as an actress in Television shows such as Moodala Mane and Mukta. In 2013, she appeared as a contestant in the first season of the Kannada reality television show Bigg Boss, that aired on Etv Kannada. Since 2015, she has been appearing in the sketch comedy television show, Majaa Talkies, as Varalakshmi, a vain and boastful sister-in-law of the character of Srujan Lokesh.
In 2014, Aparna lent her voice for the recorded announcements of passenger-boarding and deboarding made on Bangalore Metro.

Popular Kannada anchor and actress Aparna passed away on July 11th, 2024, following a two-year battle with lung cancer. She had been fighting the disease in its fourth stage. Her husband Nagaraj Vastarey confirmed the heartbreaking news in a video statement.
